I’m a fourth generation builder in my family business, R.H. & P.R. Burr, founded in 1946 in North London to rebuild the city suburbs after the war. We’re members of the Federation of Master Builders and if you’re ever looking for a builder, I’d recommend using the search facility on their website, here.
In my construction training I specialised in the wet trades – bricklaying, plastering, tiling and rendering – but as a General Builder I have about 20 years of experience in all types of domestic building work. I’m currently writing a building column for the Press Association, syndicated to a number of different media outlets, and some of my articles can be found below:
- How to wallpaper a feature wall
- How to paint a front door
- How to re-point a path
- How to secure furniture to walls
- 20 essential items for your toolbox
I’m currently taking a sabbatical from work to renovate my own 110 year old house, including doubling the size of my kitchen to account for all the gear I’ve acquired since being on the Great British Bake Off in 2014. If you want to get in touch about my current renovation project, please do so via the contact page here.
